Special underground engineering relies on synergies of the SÜLZLE Group

The 150 m high residential and commercial building will be located near Alexanderplatz on a floor space of 1,500 square meters. This so-called ABC Tower (Alexander Berlin’s Capital Tower) will have four basement floors and a retail area with five upper floors as well as a 30-floor residential tower above. The tower is to become Berlin’s tallest residential building and is the starting signal for further high-rise projects at the Alex. For the excavation pit, one of the largest SÜLZLE Stahlpartner customers in the special civil engineering sector, Stump-Franki Spezialtiefbau GmbH from Berlin, has been awarded the contract to produce a combined pile and slab foundation including the diaphragm wall. The entire installation parts were manufactured by SÜLZLE Nutzeisen and the SÜLZLE Stahlpartner branch Dessau-Roßlau in own contribution and installed into the diaphragm wall lamellas. Among other things, US-tested plates with welded-on girders and a total of 4,300 welded-on nelson anchors were used. In January 2020, the first of a total of 85 tons of bored piles in lengths of approx. 20 to 23 m were delivered. However, the 346 tons of diaphragm wall reinforcement were particularly challenging in this project. Each individual lamella had a total length of over 24 m and a width of 2.95 m. These were delivered to the construction site during the night with escort vehicles and special permits “just in time” through the entire inner city of Berlin. Stump-Franki Spezialtiefbau GmbH was able to rely on the entire product range of the SÜLZLE Group for this project and received everything from one source.
